Today a young lover seeks more creative ways than going down on one knee, extending that long-stemmed red rose and the solitaire studded gold ring, and dropping the big question. Even the young ladies of today want to travel down a path more romantic than that well-trodden one. So here are some ways that you can color your question with that charming “personal” touch.
- When you plan to pop the question, take her to her favorite pub. Request the jockey privately to play her the song she loves most, and while the melodious notes feel the air… bring on the rose and the ring!
- You may take this “on-air”. Contact the radio jockey of her favorite radio station and put forward the request to play a song that fascinates her. Include a message declaring your love. And after the message is announced, ask your question.
- In case she has her own car, go to her place early, and with your finger tip, write down your proposal in the dust on her car’s windshield. However, do make sure that the security guard of her apartment is not around!
- The saying has become clichéd: the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Why not add a variation to this and whip up a delicious dish for her? Of course, do this only if you are good with the spices and the sauces. Otherwise, stick to safe old noodles and omelet, add the romantic touch by laying out the meal on the table with a candle lit beside it, and set the mood by playing her favorite collection of songs in the CD player. It is the love and care that went into the arrangement that will touch her hurt, no matter how simple the meal.
- If you dare, insert a full page advertisement in the newspaper. This is a sure shot way to make her sit up and take notice!
- You may resort to little love-gifts to convey your wish. Gift a copy of “Love Story” by Erich Segal or some such romantic novel, and place a note with your message inside the book. Or else, gift her one cute little teddy bear, holding the ring between its paws!
- If you have an opportunity to spend some time with her alone, take a little trip together. Make it a time full of joy and love. Spend every moment such that she cherishes the memory as the most precious treasure. Propose her on the evening before you leave. If you are on the beach, arrange some candles to spell out the words will you marry me?” and light them at sun down.
