Many couples to choose to honor the guests at the ceremony by giving a wedding favor as a token of appreciation.

Somewhere in history, the tradition of thanking or greeting guest at a marriage ceremony with wedding favors was created. Many brides and grooms choose to give a gift to the friends and family that attend the wedding. The gift serves as a token and memoir of the day that the couple takes the sacred vow of marriage. Wedding favors are seen in all different forms and sizes. They are as simple as a phrase on a piece of paper or as elaborate as a prepackaged wedding favor box. The budget of the wedding greatly affects the gift that is given. In most cases, the wedding guest gift correlates to the overall atmosphere of the ceremony.

Consider Theme Wedding Favors

If the location or agenda of the ceremony will be anything except traditional, a theme wedding favor is likely the best option. For example, a beach wedding deserves beach favors. Welcome your guests and thank them for wedding gifts with a seashell. Use a permanent marker to write the couple last name and date directly on the shell or attach a printed paper strip to it. Pile all of the shells into a basket and use the favors as part of the wedding decorations.

Choose Inexpensive Wedding Favors

Low budget weddings may require less expensive favors. Choose items that are simple and can be made by the couple. Birdseed wrapped in netting is a popular, cheap party favor. Plain white, small bottles of bubbles are also fairly inexpensive. Print a label with the couple’s name and date to place around the bottle. These favors also serve a double purpose as wedding accessories to use as the couple leaves for the honeymoon.

Select a Personalized Wedding Favor

Some couples want a wedding favor with more meaning. In this case, a picture of the couple is an excellent choice. Add a short poem or phrase written by the bride and groom for an even more personal added effect. Candies are another way to add customization to wedding favors. Many candy companies offer special packaging or inscription right on the candy itself. Couples choose their own message or design.

Wedding favors are not a requirement for a successful wedding. However with all of the options available, it is hard to pass them by when making your ceremony selections. Whether the wedding calls for a theme, a low budget, or a personal touch, there is wedding favor to match the style!
